We are mega excited about the release of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. So excited that we’ve giving away tickets to an exclusive screening of the movie (head over to the KISS Facebook page for all of the deets). A couple of weeks ago KISS reader Emma won our amazers comp to go to London and meet series author Cassandra Clare, and Jace…oops we mean the gorge, Jamie Campbell Bower. Check out her blog from the event below.
My sister and I were delighted when we found out we had won the tickets to go to The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones fan signing event in London. As big fans of the book series, we couldn’t wait to see the author and of course Jamie Campbell Bower who portrays Jace in the movie version of the book. The event was in St. James’ Church in Piccadilly, London, and the church really kept with the theme of the books. In the books, the Institute, an important place throughout the series, is in an old church, so the stained glass windows and atmosphere in the church really fit in with everything.
I had no idea the books were so popular and when we went into the church, the place was absolutely packed. There were easily over 100 screaming girls, and the occasional boy! It was so exciting as everyone was chatting and waiting for Cassandra Clare to come out. When they did, everyone went crazy, even more so when Jamie came out!
Cassandra and Jamie did a Q&A for about an hour, answering all of the fans’ questions. Questions included what was Jamie’s favourite part to film, which was the part in the greenhouse, but I won’t spoil that for anyone who hasn’t read the books! Cassandra said she loved how the film turned out and how each character was portrayed as she had imagined. Jamie also mentioned that the cast really gelled together and became great friends.
Next, Jamie took out his guitar and sat on the church steps to play two of his own songs. I didn’t know he could sing, and he was actually really good! He is a great performer and I can’t wait to see him play Jace in the movie. After that, Cassandra and Jamie signed books, which took a very long time! When you got your book signed, you got a cupcake decorated with a little edible Mortal Instruments book- Yum yum!
Overall the event was brilliant and getting to hear about the movie and book was so exciting! Thank you so much KISS for my little London adventure x
