The Three Musketeers star Gabriella Wilde talks to KISS.ie!

To celebrate the opening of The Three Musketeers in cinemas today, we caught up with one of its stars and got the skinny on filming, costumes and stage names!

Tell us about your character Constance.

She’s the Queen’s lady in waiting, and so she lives in a court in Paris. She falls in love in the movie, and she sort of runs off and gets sort of involved in the adventure. She’s not your average lady in waiting.

What was it like to play the character?

It was a lot of fun, she’s a fun character cos she’s sort of feisty and she’s got her own opinions but she’s also sort of the lady in waiting so you know she wears amazing dresses, so there’s that whole side to her as well.

What were your costumes like? Do you have a favorite outfit?

I think all of them really they were  all sort of incredible. I mean everyone’s costumes were absolutely beautiful. They were very uncomfortable though, but I think thats just the way they were back in those days. But no, they were all incredible. They were all so beautifully made with a lot of attention to detail.

Did you do much preparation before the role? Did you watch earlier movies or read any of the originals texts?

I’d read the books while I was at school so I knew the already but I didn’t watch any of the movies until after I’d finished filming.

Why did you choose Wilde as your stage name?

I chose it because of Oscar Wilde.

Okay, we like that! Why Oscar Wilde?

It’s because he’s a playwright that I really like. That’s just how it came about.

Is there any actresses working at the moment that you really admire or anyone from the past?

I love Hayley Atwell whose working at the moment I think she’s great. And I sort of love Kate Winslet, she has had a great career as well.
