Mikayla is one of TikTok’s most popular creators, and for good reason. She is a fantastic makeup artist, always sharing the best tips, tutorials, and reviews. But what we really love about Mikayla is how down-to-earth she is, never afraid to keep it real.

And after watching all of her videos, you probably know a lot about the make up artist. Like her hatred of a red lip, her love of eye shadow primers, and her adorable relationship with her BF Cody. But we’ve found some details you might not know about our favourite creator.

She was posting beauty content on Tumblr before TikTok

While most of us discovered Mikayla on TikTok, she’s actually been creating content long before the app even existed. Back in the dark ages (pre-TikTok) she was posting makeup content on Tumblr in the early 2010s. She also had a YouTube channel before her rise to fame on TikTok.

2. She has a degree from Bryant University

While makeup is her passion and now her full time career, Mikayla actually had a very different plan for life. She graduated with bachelor’s degree in communications from Bryant University in 2020 and was planning to work in radio. Of course, that was before she went viral, but Mikayla still holds her education in high regard and is very proud to have earned a degree.

3. She has an older brother

Although he doesn’t feature on her social media accounts, Mikayla actually has an older brother named Nathan. While we don’t see him much, the pair are pretty close.

4. Her first makeup products were from Avon

If you’re an avid fan of Mikayla, you’ll probably know some of her favourite brands from her video. But you might not know that her first ever makeup products were from Avon. She bought their makeup from her friend’s mother when she was just 10 years old.

5. She is a Gemini

Mikayla was born on the 13th of June 1998, making her Gemini. Known for being intelligent social butterflies who like to keep busy, we can definitely see the Gemini in Mikayla.

6. She doesn’t plan to leave Boston anytime soon

While the typically move for an influencer once they gain fame is to leave for Los Angeles, Mikayla has made it very clear she is a “new England girl” and doesn’t plan on following the crowd. Opting to stay in Boston instead of moving to the East Coast. It makes a lot of sense as she has shared how proud she is to be from Massachusetts a lot.

7. She gets her creative from her mum

Mikayla obviously has a creative side (have you seen her eye shadow?) and it must run in the family as her mother, Patrice is actually a professional artist, and works as an art teacher.

8. She get her more academic side from her dad

Her dad, Micheal is a school counselour, which is probably why Mikayla can give the best advice.

9. She is of Portuguese descent

Mikayla is very proud to be from Massachusetts, but she is also proud of her Portuguese heritage, mentioning it in many video and speaking about the Portuguese traits her family has.

10. She is an award winning makeup artist

Okay yes we might rave about Mikayla’s makeup skills, but if that isn’t enough to convince you maybe her big win at the American Influencer Award will. In 2020, she won Emerging Makeup Artist of the Year. Certainly deserved.
