6 TikTok-Inspired Up-Cycling Looks To Revive Your Closet

DIY scrunchies have our heart!

We are all about sustainable fashion where possible, and what better way to give your closet an eco friendly revamp than to up-cycle your old pieces?

TikTok (aka our favourite app, sorry Instagram) is full of cool and creative DIY fashion ideas that we love, and a lot of them don’t even need a sewing machine. We’ve compiled a list of some of the cutest and simplest looks that you can try at home. Don’t buy, DIY!

1. Tie Dye

Yep, you’ve seen it everywhere, maybe you’ve even tried it yourself, but tie-dye is definitely one of our fave up-cycling trends right now. It’s a top trend and it gives a new life to old t-shirts, jumpers and anything that feels tired. Tie-dying a few pieces can really brighten up your whole wardrobe.

2. Paint your shoes

Anyone with a bit of artistic flare, this one’s for you. There are some really creative ways to bring your old shoes to life, and some are just as simple as colouring the Nike tick on your Air Force One’s to all-out masterpieces like these below! Give your shoes a personal stamp if you’re feeling creative.

3. Cropped hoodie

This is a perfect way to get wear out of a drab, shapeless hoodie that isn’t working as oversized anymore. There are many variations of this online, this one shows us how to make a cute two-piece without needing to sew. Perfect for your sunny day walks and park picnics.

4. The tracksuit -> top

So there are some dodgy versions of this online but when done correctly some are actually pretty cute! Making tracksuit bottoms into a top sounds a little mad but it definitely gets creativity points!

5. DIY scrunchies

This one is very cool. Scrunchies can add so much to even a simple outfit, so being able to make your own pattern scrunchies is such a good use of old clothes, towels or material you’ve got lying around. This can be done with a bobbin, material, and a hot glue gun or sewing machine. Get creative!

6. Ruched shirt

A super cute way to reinvent a t-shirt, if you can get your hands on a sewing machine. If it’s v neck already that’s a bonus, but the shirt can be cut into a v neck shape too. It would be the perfect ‘nice top’ for the ‘jeans and a nice top’ dress code.

There you have it! Super easy ways to bring a new life to your clothes instead of buying new ones!
