8 Must-Try Things To Include In Your 2022 Beauty Routine

Get ready to take your winter skin regime up a notch.

Ready to up your game when it comes to your beauty routine in 2022? Yep, I hear you.

Right now, it’s that weird time of year when it doesn’t exactly feel like winter anymore, but we’re still a far cry away from spring. Plus, it’s the least busy month of the year and there’s plenty of time to focus on ourselves.

Here are eight things to include in your beauty routine that will benefit you in all kinds of ways. From skincare to healthy nails, take your pick.

Plenty of Water

Let’s start off simple, drinking plenty of water is not only a great thing for your beauty routine, but for your overall health in general. There are plenty of benefits to upping your water intake, including improving your skin tone, helping to flush out toxins, reducing puffiness to the skin and helping with skin problems in general.

If you struggle with your water intake, work towards one litre of water each day at the start. Pick up a cute water bottle that you can have to hand throughout the day. Every little helps!

Gua Sha

Gua sha stones have been around for longer than you may think. An old Chinese skincare tool, they bring new blood to the surface and promote lymphatic drainage so that your skin looks less puffy and resulting in your skin looking smoother and brighter.

Although, gua stones are more about the way they are used, rather than the stone itself. Find out exactly how to use them like a pro here.

SPF, Always

You’ve probably heard this 100 times before, but it’s so important to wear SPF each and every day. It doesn’t matter if it’s the dullest, wettest day of the year, you’re gonna need your SPF. It’s so important for so many reasons, we know by now that sun cream with a high sun protection factor is vital in helping to prevent skin cancer, and keep your skin looking youthful throughout the years.

Double Cleansing

When you’re upping your game when it comes to skincare, it’s essential to start double-cleansing. Basically, in short, double cleansing makes sure that your skin is perfectly clean. The first cleanse takes off the majority of your makeup and any ick and grime that you picked up during the day.

The second cleanse then takes off the more stubborn makeup (you’ll be surprised at how much is left when it looks like your skin is clean) and any other bits of oils or dirt (again, you’d be surprised!).

A Facial Mist

It may seem a bit boujie, but once you try a facial mist it’s hard to go back. Like a mini self-care ritual that takes seconds, it’s gives your skin a boost of hydration while also keeping your refreshed and glowing.

You can’t go wrong with the Ella & Jo Hyaluronic Mist, or the Avene Thermal Spring Water.

Daily Body Moisturising

While we’re taking care of our skin, it’s important not to forget our body care too. While the skin on our bodies differs completely to our face, it’s just as important to not forget about it in our beauty routine. After your shower, rub in some body moisturiser from head to toe (okay, maybe from your neck rather than your head).

Plus, body moisturisers don’t have to be expensive to work like a dream. You can even pick up a great one in your local shop, such as the Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion. It can be found in most shops, and it’s less than a tenner too. Ideal.

Body-brushing

Speaking of caring for your body, have you ever tried body-brushing, or dry brushing? It’s basically what it says on the tin, brushing the skin on your body, and works as a form of exfoliation. You start from your feet and work your way up to your neck in both long stroke and clockwise motions.

It’s recommended to do it 2-3 times a week for the best results, perfect to pair with those long, thorough showers or baths that make you feel ten times better!

Cuticle Oil

Last but not least, a little extra care for your nails! Cuticle oil is key for healthy nails, and once your nails are healthy, it’ll be easier for them to grow.

Applying cuticle oil every day can increase the circulation around your nails, repair and protects dry nails, prevents hangnails and keep your nails moisturised: just to name a few.
