8 Of The Best Mascaras To Add To Your Basket RN

Whether you love natural and fluffy, or you're all for dark and dramatic.

When it comes to makeup, mascara plays a big part in the finished look. But people tend to fall into one of two categories when it comes to mascara. The first is dead certain that mascara is mascara, and once it coats your lashes its job is done. The other is of the opinion that it all comes down to the formula and the wand, that each mascara is different.

I fall into the latter. I have naturally long and curly lashes (I know, I have such a hard life), so finding the right mascara is key for me because nine times out of ten mascara easily transfers with the constant rubbing of my lashes on my brow bone. So I’m constantly looking for the perfect mascara, and here are eight that are top-rated. Happy shopping!

Essence Lash Princess

An oldie, but a reliable goodie. Possibly one of the best bargains on the beauty market, as this mascara leaves you with fluffy, long and curled lashes. What more could we ask for? Plus, the specially shaped brush makes sure that even the smallest of lashes are covered but without that heavy feeling. Now that Penneys have opened their doors for appointments, it won’t be long until we can all walk through the doors and stock up on our favourite Essence goodies. Can’t wait? Buy it online here.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

Also known right now as the TikTok mascara, everyone and anyone who are beauty obsessed is showing this beauty off on TikTok right now, and for pretty good reasons too. With this mascara, it’s all about length and volume. The wand is small and flexible, meaning you can easily coat each and every lash, even the smallest of lashes. Usually, you can never go wrong with a Maybelline mascara anyway, but this one really hits the spot. If you haven’t tried it out for yourself just yet, you can pick it up here.

L’Oreal Bambi Eye

Another brand that you can easily trust to create an amazing mascara, L’Oreal. The Bambi lash has been around for a while, but it’s always worth a buy. Especially if you love nothing more than that natural, yet fluffy and lengthened look for daytime (the perfect school mascara, tbh). Plus, although the finished look isn’t too dramatic, it leaves a lovely curl with just the right amount of definition. Shop it here.

Note Sculpt Master

Note’s Sculpt Master mascara was one of the first products I tried from the brand a few years ago, but I still find myself gravitating towards it every now and again (not the exact same mascara that I bought all those years ago, thankfully). It’s not too expensive, but gives you exactly what you want and expect from mascara. With a buildable formula, you can go for an as natural or as dramatic a finish as you like, with each lash curled and lengthened perfectly. Check it out here.

Catrice Lift Up

The latest mascara from Catrice, and let me tell you, it’s a goodie. All about giving your lashes a long-lasting lift, the Lift Up from Catrice leaves a gorgeous curl and volume with just one swipe through your lashes. On top of making your lashes look amazing, it also contains vitamins in the formula, so you’re giving your lovely lashes a little extra TLC too. Just like with Essence, we’re all itching to get to Penneys and root through the Catrice stand. Mascara, concealer, foundation, yes please! But if you fancy ordering it online, you can do so here.

Urban Decay Lash Freak

Looking for dramatic lashes? Urban Decay’s Lash Freak is for you. It’s super pigmented and heavy, so less is more with this one even when you’re looking for the dramatic result. The volume it gives your lashes is pretty insane, and it doesn’t crumble or flake throughout the day which is always a bonus. Start off light-handed and use the wand to separate and coat each lash. You’ll be delighted with the result. If you’re not too sure, you can buy a mini one first to try. Check it out here.

Huda Beauty Legit Lashes

Possibly, my favourite mascara I’ve tried over the past year. Huda Beauty brought out Legit Lashes in May of 2020 and it went straight to the top of my must-try list. Straight away, I fell head over heels. It has two different wands. One to curl and lengthen, and another to add volume. The two wands are completely different, designed to use together to achieve the perfect lashes. Ideally, go in with the curl and lengthen side first, then add the volume. Or mix it up and use them separately, it’s completely up to you. But either way, you’re gonna have GORGEOUS lashes. Shop it here.

KVD Vegan Beauty Go Big or Go Home

This is literally what it says on the tin: Go Big or Go Home. This mascara is super long-wearing and results in big, fluffy, voluminous lashes. With one wiggle, your lashes are fully coated. But if you want to go extra, you can layer it up without your lashes getting clumped together. Plus, you also have the option of using the Epic Curl eyelash primer with it too, to really up the ante. You can shop the mascara here, the primer here, or Boots have an amazing offer right now where you can nab the two of them together. Check it out here.
