Addison Rae has opened up about being in the public eye and how she can relate to Britney Spears.
The TikTok star drew comparison between herself and the popstar following the release of Framing Britney Spears, a documentary which focused on the difficulties Britney faced in the public eye.
In an interview with Bustle, she said that she had seen the doc, adding: “I think that’s a really… interesting thing to think about.”
Speaking about the media scrutiny Britney faced, Addison added:
“I definitely can see how that is an overwhelming life.”
When it comes to her own life she said: “People do come up with narratives around you that aren’t necessarily true. I’ve kind of dealt with that a lot, people being involved in really personal aspects of your life.”
The 20-year-old went on to say that some things have changed since being famous pre-social media.
“In the early 2000s, the press controlled what people saw of you. Now we can have that chance to do it ourselves,” she explained, “I did make a decision to put some of those things out there.”
This comes after she and fellow TikToker Bryce Hall split and much of it was played out online and in media.
At the time, Addison took some time off to work on her ‘offline life’.
In a post on Instagram stories last month, she said: “I love y’all and am always so grateful for the kind words and support you show me. sharing my life with y’all makes me happy, but some things I choose to handle offline.”
She added: “when and if I want to share, I will make that decision. Thank you again for the love and support.”
More recently the star deleted her Twitter after a hurtful hashtag implying that she had passed away began trending.
