Awkward! Here’s How Riverdale Is Doing Kissing Scenes During COVID

Not exactly super romantic!

Riverdale returned to filming earlier this month, with some special measures in place due to the pandemic.

The cast and crew had to quarantine for 14 days after arriving in Canada, where the show is filmed.

Now, as filming takes place, the Riverdale team including actors Lili Reinhart, KJ Apa and the rest of the cast, have to remain there until Christmas.

But working in such close contact with other actors, in cosy scenes, calls for other measures too, and it sounds pretty awkward.

Anyone who knows Riverdale knows that there is quit a bit of kissing in the show, and so in order to be able to do this during COVID, they have to wash their mouths out first.

KJ Apa revealed this over on Instagram, where he said: “Our new normal is washing our mouths before every take of a make-out scene…”

In the video, KJ and co-star Camila Mendes can be seen swishing water around in their mouths for about a minute.

It does not look fun, and probably takes the magic away from any fun kissing scenes.

But hey, at least they’re being safe and responsible!

Season 5 of Riverdale is set to be released early next year.
