Welcome to the Team KISS list. We know that after weeks and weeks of lockdown, you’re probably getting a bit bored, frustrated even, and that’s totally understandable. Especially now that another, strict lockdown is on the horizon, we’re all thinking of ways to keep ourselves busy.
Team KISS is sharing some of our favourite things we’ve done/watched/used in the last week to give you some inspo and help you to get to know us better.

Enjoying… time at home
I live in Dublin but am from the Aran Islands and I came home over the Christmas break to spend time with my mom and am here for the month of January. While I’m missing lots of people and things about Dublin I just feel so grateful to be able to spend lockdown here with my mom and really catch up and spend time together. These are the things you’ll really miss when you leave home so it’s one positive of the pandemic.
Using.. new notebooks
Not to sound too basic, but notebooks are really helping me keep sane right now. When everything seems a bit overwhelming I’m finding it so great to be able to write everything down, make lists and keep some order on my thoughts.
I got gifted some lovely ones for Christmas and I’ve been using them for work and for general thoughts and to-do lists. I have also been making a list of what I’m grateful for every day on my Instagram stories and it’s really helping me to count my blessings and see how lucky I am to have what I have even in this tricky time.

Loving: Skingredients Sally Cleanse
I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about this before, because I’ve been obsessed with it for what feels like forever. My skin has been suffering for well over a year now, I used a wrong product that wasn’t right for my skin and it led me down an awful path, but that’s a story for another day. I started using Skingredients Sally Cleanse at some stage in 2020, and it’s really helped my poor skin. So much so that it’s starting to get to the stage of what it was like before, with no random breakouts.
It’s an active cleanser, with 2% salicylic acid so you have to be pretty careful with it. I use it as a cleanser every third night, and if I feel any spots starting to come up, I pop this on them for three minutes before washing it off and it does WONDERS. Plus, it’s not overly pricey at €25, and it’ll last you ages. Check it out here.
Buying: A little home office set up!
I have finally bitten the bullet and bought a little home office set up. I moved back to my parent’s house a couple of months ago and have been working from the dining room table, which can be less than ideal at times. So, I’ve invested in a little desk and comfortable chair, that I can proudly display my laptop, cute notebooks, and to-do lists on.
I’m hoping it’ll really help to break up the day by having a set place to separate work life from normal life, considering all is pretty much the same right now! If you have the space or even the resources to make up a little space that’s just for your schoolwork, it’d probably really help you too. Fingers crossed!
I tend to go through love/hate phases with Pinterest. Well, more love/completely forget about phases. But lately, I’ve been all over Pinterest. From home decor ideas, to recipes and fashion, cute quotes, and daydreaming about my own home and wedding one day! I’ve a board for anything and everything, and I think it’s a great app for escapism right now. There’s no-one sharing all of their opinions, no terrifying news, just a whole lot of goodness in one app. Plus, KISS shares all the must-read articles there too, so it’s a win-win! Just before Christmas, I discovered YouTuber Hyram on the video platform and since then I have slowly been making my way through every one of his videos. Most famous for his ‘Specialist Reacts To…’ videos, I have learned SO much about skincare since watching his videos and I am so excited to have rediscovered my love for beauty and self-care again.
On his channel, Hyram promotes a fragrance-free skincare routine, something that I’m embarrassed to admit I was never aware of beforehand. While some experts would argue against Hyram’s beliefs, for me I would have to agree with him that fragrance in skincare is unnecessary and can be damaging to my skin in the long term. So, I am now slowly giving my skincare products an overhaul, switching out my heavily fragranced products for fragrance-free ones as they run out. Hyram has lots of brands that he recommends on his channel, and one of my favourite things about his recommendations is how affordable they are. Check out his video above if you’re interested in skincare too, or are just looking to begin your journey.
Obsessed with… Skincare
Duh! After watching Hyram’s videos, skincare is firmly back on my agenda. I’ve been interested in taking care of my skin from a pretty young age, from about 13 onwards I have been doing the basics of cleansing, toning, and moisturising and of course wearing an SPF, but in recent years I fell off the bandwagon a little of updating my routine.
This (I’m so embarrassed to say) means I have been using the likes of St. Ives Apricot Scrub up until very recently. Since watching Hyram’s videos I have learned just how damaging physical scrubs can be on the skin, and have since switched up my products and routine. One product I’m loving at the minute is the ‘Revolution Multi-Acid Peel Solution‘. Something that I only use every week or so because it can be stripping to the skin if overused. I’ve already noticed a difference in my skin’s health, so I think I will most definitely be saying buh-bye to St. Ives for good.
Eating… All the treats
The calendar may say that Christmas is over but my heart certainly does not. My favourite thing about festive season is all the delicious things I am so privileged to have in my house to eat. As with most people, there is still plenty of sweet treats left over from the big day and so I am still slowly chomping my way through them all.
With lockdown number 3 well and truly upon us and the cold and dark weather making everything miserable, it’s nice to have something to look forward to in the evenings when the working day is done. So, that little piece of heaven for me right now is sitting down in front of the TV with a hot chocolate (check out the best recipe for that here) and a whole host of chocolates and biscuits too – hardly rock n’ roll I know, but hey I need to get my kicks from somewhere.
