How To Take Care Of The Environment More From Your Own Home

What you can do to make a difference.

We are all spending a serious amount of time at home at the moment, whether that be lounging in our back gardens or chilling out in front of the tv. But as well as that, we’re eating all of our meals at home, some of us are getting more deliveries, and just in general, there’s a lot more waste to dispose of.

While we’re all preoccupied at the minute, it’s more important to remember that now is a great time to improve our recycling habits and care for the environment.

In Europe, we waste about 200 kilos per person per year, which is a LOT. So it’s v important that each and every one of us should be making efforts to reduce that massive number. When it comes to taking care of the environment from your own home, it’s all about those three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. Of course, there’s plenty of other things you can do too, and sure, we’ve heard it all before, but here’s how you can put your knowledge to good use from your home right now.

Reduce your consumption of products to help conserve natural resources and reduce pollution. You don’t have to go without your essentials, but try to keep this in mind when you’re buying your bits and bobs. Even choosing to buy unpackaged fruit instead of that in plastic makes a difference. Every little helps!

Reuse – Can you reuse the products to be discarded? Consider whether they are still in good condition and whether you can use them again. Even get creative, and try giving products that are about to go into the bin a clean and a lick of paint. Check out how to spray and decorate old jam jars and bottles right here.

Recycle appropriate waste materials. Before you chuck something in the bin, check if it can be recycled or not. Most recyclable materials will have clear instructions on the packaging, but make sure it’s clean, empty, and dry before placing it in the recycling bin.
