Summer is coming to an end, and there are plenty of reasons why we’ll miss it.
Long morning lay-ins, late evening adventures, and warm weeks full of free time, are about to be a thing of the past. But there is one big thing that always has us annoyed heading into autumn and winter: what the cold weather will do to our beauty routine.
Let’s face it, there isn’t long left till it will be baltic outside, and with that comes dry skin, brittle hair, and worst of all weak nails. The cold can play havoc on even the best manicure making autumn and winter enemies of all beauty fanatics.
But maybe not this year!
No unfortunately summer won’t be lasting till December, but TikTok has provided us with a hack that might make the seasons more bearable: Nail slugging.
What is it?
You might remember slugging, it was a massive trend in TikTok’s skincare community last year. Basically it was using a really REALLY heavy occlusive (barrier creams like Vaseline) at the end of your skincare routine.
Well, nail slugging follows the same principle…except on your nail.
Staring with a nail cuticle oil, which you massage in, then finishing with a think balm to protect your nails and lock in the moisture.
Leaving your nails stronger, healthier, and looking fab!

Simple right?
So how does it work?
So is it pure magic?
Well nope. Dr Charles MD explained in his video on the subject, why nail slugging works.
Highlight how the thick barrier offers a lot of protection for nail, from things that you probably didn’t even know could cause trouble.
Saying: “Slugging the nail cuticle, can strengthen nails, and protect them from water damage. It should be done daily.”
So time to go stock up on some cuticle oil!
