Good news for members of the Ton, Bridgerton will be getting a third AND fourth season on Netflix.
As you probably know, Season 2 is currently in production and in keeping with the novels it’s based on, tells a new romance story – that of Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love.
We’ll get more from the Bridgerton and Featheringtons in S3 and 4 which will follow.
We don’t know a whole lot of details about the third and fourth seasons but if they’re anything like the books, season 3 will focus on Benedict and his quest to find love, including meeting a mystery lady at a ball who he is mesmerised by.
Season 4, if based on the books, will then look at Colin, it will also look more at Penelope Featherington, played by the wonderful Galway girl Nicola Coughlan, so we’re delighted we’ll be getting more of her.
We know that season two, which is a step closer right now, will focus more on Anthony, with Daphne stepping in to help her brother find a wife. It was announced earlier this month that Rege-Jean Page will not return to the show as The Duke and husband of Daphne, and the focus will be on other members of the family.
Speaking about the show, creator Shonda Rhimes said: “From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience. But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy [Beers, producer] and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”
If you haven’t seen the show yet, it’s based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling series of novels. It’s set in the lavish, and competitive world of Regency London high society. From the glittering ballrooms of Mayfair to the aristocratic palaces of Park Lane and beyond, the series unveils a seductive, sumptuous world replete with intricate rules and dramatic power struggles, where no one is truly ever on steady ground. At the heart of the show is the powerful Bridgerton family. Comprised of eight close-knit siblings, this funny, witty, daring, and clever group must navigate the upper ten thousand’s marriage mart in search of romance, adventure, and love.
