At the start of this month, it was revealed that Regé-Jean Page would not be returning to Bridgerton for its second season.
His character Simon, the Duke of Hastings, was a fan favourite so it came as quite a shock to viewers of the Netflix show.
Though a reason wasn’t given for his departure in the announcement many have their speculations.
The biggest rumour was that Regé-Jean quit the show to play James Bond in the movie franchise, which is due a new actor for the main role.

However, the actor has commented on this for the first time, explaining that rumour often comes with being a well-known star.
“Ah, the B word. I think that if you are British and you do anything of note, that other people take notice of, then people will start talking about that,” Regé Jean explained to The Mirror.
He added: “I think that’s fairly normal and I’m flattered to be in the category of Brits that people have noticed. Nothing more – or less – than that.”
The star went on to explain that considering we’re still in the midst of a pandemic, he isn’t exactly looking at the future.
“I think the concept of having plans in this moment in history is mildly hilarious. So I’ve given up on making them,” he said.
Hhhm. It seems like he’s saying he’s not the new Bond, but honestly, we’ll have to wait and see.
We’re sure whatever he does next will be amazing!
He’s due to appear in Netflix’s The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
