As the year, and the decade comes to an end, we love to have a nose at what people were watching, sharing and listening too over the past twelve months. You’ve probably seen hundreds of Spotify screenshots on your Insta stories over the past few days, but now it’s time for YouTube.
The video platform has revealed the 10 most popular videos watched in Ireland this year, and it’s quite a mix!
Number one will be no surprise to any beauty (or scandal) fans, with James Charles taking the top spot.
You’ll probably remember that the make-up artist was in a very public feud with fellow MUA Tati Westbrook. The scandal kicked off after James promoted a hair vitamin that was not Tati’s brand. She felt hurt and betrayed after allegedly being very good to him from his early years of internet fame! THE DRAMA!
Tati released a video ‘BYE SISTER’ explaining their relationship and how she no longer wanted to be friends with him. In response to this dramatic 40-minute video, James released his own.
James’ response, entitled ‘No More Lies’, in which he shared his side of the story, was the most watch video in Ireland this year. While it’s no surprise, we’re a little shocked that Tati’s vid didn’t even make it into the top 10!
The only other YouTuber to make the list is Shane Dawson, in at number two with his Conspiracy Theories vid.
Ireland clearly loves a laugh, as number three and four and The Two Johnnies and Foil, Arms & Hog sketches.
Number five was the ridiculous but successful EGG that got more likes on Insta that Kylie Jenner, the video was just another way to promote this campaign.
If you’re mam, dad, aunt or grandparent always bangs on about the weather, it’ll be no surprise to you that a video about Storm Lorenzo also made the cut and number 6!
We all love a good prank video too, as number 7 would prove. It’s the video where James Corden tricked David Beckham into thinking a very ugly, very bad statue of him was made.
Sporting events were always bound to make the list, and this game between Leeds and Villa was the most popular of them all.
A title like “The most UNBELIEVABLE scenes in football history?!” would have any sports fan clicking in.
This truly was Billie Eilish’s year as she was basically everywhere, and she (kind of) makes this list too, with number 8 being a parody vid from Seth Everman called “How to create ‘bad guy'”.
If you’re a Hot Ones fan, you’ve probably already seen celeb chef ‘Gordon Ramsay Savagely Critiques Spicy Wings’, this rounded off the top 10.
The top ten music videos were also released, how many of these did you bop to over the year?
1. Billie Eilish – Bad Guy
2. Lil Nas X – Old Town Road (Official Movie) ft. Billy Ray Cyrus
