Is there anything more exciting than debs season? We pin such high hopes on looking amazing and have a magical night to remember, that sometimes there can be a bit of pressure.
Check out our checklist to ensure it all goes smoothly.
Do have reasonable expectations
It’s finally here! The night you’ve spent years waiting for. Whether you’ve got an older sister or you’ve simply been hearing about the Debs around school for longer than you’ve been hearing about the Leaving Certificate, the excitement surrounding the night is sure to be reaching boiling point-somewhere between Communion and Wedding, right? Eh, maybe not. Everyone wants to enjoy themselves, but be wary of convincing yourself it’s going to be the best night ever, because that will just jinx it!
Don’t worry too much
If your hair doesn’t work out the way you want, or if your nemesis wearing the same dress, don’t sweat it. Something is bound to go wrong- so just take it all in your stride. This is your night, the only thing you should be focusing on is enjoying yourself. If you spend the night stuck to your date, you will ruin both of your nights.
Do invite the right person
Okay, so the Debs night has the potential to be a great night regarding a future with your date or maybe they already are your significant other but a lot of the time, you are better off bringing one of your friends. Drama can happen very quickly at the Debs when it comes to love so it’s best to have a great night with friends. If you do want to bring someone you’ve had your eye on for a while, make sure you hang out with each other before to make sure there are no awkward silences.
Do wear comfy shoes and a practical dress
Or bring them with you for the dance floor either. Debs night is not about wearing a stunning dress and the highest heels and not being able to breathe or move for the rest of the night. It’s about having a good time. You don’t want to remember the night with you sat in the corner having a dreadful night.
Be sensible
Yes, the debs is about having one of the most memorable nights of your life, so make sure you can remember it and don’t overdo the alcohol. It’s also important not to do anything you’re not comfortable with just because you’re there with a date. As long you are over 18, it’s fine to have some drinks but don’t make the whole night about that.
