Have you ever scrolled through an Influencer’s social media feed and wondered how their content is just so good?! The lighting is always ideal, their outfits and makeup on point, and there always seems to be a mirror placed in the perfect spot, as if by luck.
Well, as it turns out, their content isn’t so perfectly effortless at all, as TikTok has exposed. In a video posted by Kara Del Toro, the infamous influencer ‘mirror selfie’ has been debunked as a scam, with some people not even using a real mirror to take the picture. Here’s how.
“I’m going to let you guys in on a top-secret for all the blogger mirror pictures you see. There is no mirror,” she said.
@karajewelSecrets bloggers don’t want you to know part 1 #greenscreen #selfie #phototips #blogger #model
With just over a million followers on both Instagram and TikTok, it’s fair to say Kara knows what she’s talking about, as she herself admits to using this hack to create some of her content.
So here’s how to create the ‘no mirror, mirror selfie’ for yourself.
- Set up your phone/camera on a tripod and arrange your background to be as you please, usually, a plain white backdrop works best.
- Grab your other phone and hold it up as a prop – remember, you won’t be taking the picture using this.
- Put your phone or camera that is on the tripod on a self-timer mode and pose with your fake phone as you please.
- And voila! Perfect pictures every time!
People in the comments of Kara’s video were just as shook as we are. With one saying:
“Not me moving my giant Ikea mirror all around the house chasing the sun”
And another commenting:
“I feel like I’ve been lied to now”
Will you be giving this hack a try?
