Room Revamp is a series where we help you make your bedroom your dream space. Unfortunately, you can’t really go changing your kitchen or sitting room, but your bedroom is your own and it should feel that way. From simple tidying hacks to creating more space and adding touches of style to make it somewhere you love to cosy up.
This week we’re looking at a simple DIY headboard.
We’ve been spending a lot of time at home lately looking at the same four walls of our bedroom. This means that you are probably looking to change things up a bit. With many shops still closed, and furniture and supplies often being pretty expensive, it’s great to find cheap and cheerful ways to do up your room.
This headboard hack is just that!
A headboard can really frame your bed and give your room a sophisticated style in an instant.
All you need is paint and some tape. Yep, that’s it!
- Pick your favourite colour, maybe something that matches your cushions or curtains so that it all comes together nicely.
- Pull your bed out from the wall and mark out the size of your headboard with tape. It should be at least as long as your bed but it can be slightly wider too, and it can be as high or low as you want but it should definitely be higher than your pillows when they are propped up.
- Then neatly and evenly paint at least two coats. Wait till it dries and peel away the tape.
Voila! A lovely new headboard. You can add some fairy lights around it to really make it stand out.
Brittni Mehlhoff from Paper&Stitch has a really easy tutorial if you need more advice and pics.
Hers is nice and simple and makes such a difference to her bedroom.
You can also check out HGTV’s tutorial on Youtube, but you don’t have to go quite so grand in your room, especially if you don’t have a really big bed.
